Based in the Windy City, The Maverick Gallery Foundation exists to make art as diverse and expansive as the minds behind it. We partner with local institutions, host inclusive exhibitions, and design workshops that honor sensory needs—all with one mission: turning the “invisible” into the celebrated.

Think of us as the bridge connecting Chicago’s vibrant arts scene with the neurodivergent community that enriches it. Here’s how we’re building that bridge:

What We Offer

  • Inclusive Exhibitions – Rotating shows featuring neurodivergent artists alongside established names.

  • Sensory-Friendly Events – Quiet hours, tactile tours, and low-stimulus spaces that welcome everyone.

  • Professional Development – Grants, mentorships, and workshops like Navigating the Art Market with Neurodivergence.

  • Community Programs – Support groups, artist talks, and collaborative projects that nurture connection.

Spotlight on Neurodivergent Artists

Neurodivergent creators bring a kaleidoscope of styles and stories to the canvas. A few artists who inspire this movement:

  • Jon Adams – A synesthetic artist blending sound and imagery with geological precision.

  • Niam Jain – A mostly nonverbal abstract painter from Toronto whose layered acrylics echo the emotional depth of Pollock.

  • Megan Rhiannon – An illustrator capturing daily sensory experiences in intimate, diary-style drawings.

Their work is a powerful reminder that neurodivergence expands the possibilities of art.

How We Support Artists

  • Inclusive Exhibitions that invite audiences to see the world through new lenses.

  • Sensory-Friendly Events that allow everyone to engage with art on their own terms.

  • Professional Development that helps artists transform passion into sustainable careers.

We’re inspired by national leaders like The Art of Autism and by Chicago organizations offering sensory-centered programming. Together, we’re strengthening a movement rooted in creativity and inclusion.

Join the Movement

  • Visit our upcoming shows—sensory-friendly hours included.

  • Donate or become a patron to support grants and workshop materials.

  • Volunteer—artists, educators, and art lovers are all welcome.

Every brushstroke, every conversation, every act of support helps build a richer, more inclusive cultural landscape in Chicago.

The future of art is neurodivergent—and it’s already unfolding here at The Maverick Gallery Foundation. Let’s keep the conversation going, the galleries open, and the creativity flowing.
